Legend of the Father;
Prophecies
(Darkness Come)

Two brothers born under a demon moon,
one is innocent,
fair and sweet,
the other’s darkness hewn.

One is cursed by day,
the other cursed at night.
One misses the human hand,
for the other it is life.

Darkness come,
and darkness go,
and a mortal life is taken.
Now they find it is by god
that both have forsaken

One soon sets his sight to glory,
to battlefields of blood and gory.
The other sets his sights abroad,
to fertile land and paths to trod.

Empires rise
and others fall.
The nights,
the days,
one has them all.

While night brings moon,
and moon brings curse,
at least, he thanks,
he has no thirst.

Darkness come,
and darkness go,
and neither yet has died.
Though heaven knows
by their own hands,
how hard it is they’ve tried.

The last of civilization falls,
to his crimson hateful hand.
The hills grow deep,
at night like sheep,
his people fill the land.

Man becomes his slave,
a puppet on a string.
He becomes a master,
lord to everything.

Darkness come,
and darkness go,
they meet and find they have no soul.
Hell finds one,
the path another,
Both disown their despised brother.

So it is as it once were,
each against each others turn,
and the path that both ways lie.
Heaven knows,
what one way goes,
the other way will try

This one weeps, ashamed,
for all the death it is he’s wrought,
a solitary tear,
for every pain he’s brought.

This one laughs aloud,
his breath an evil hiss.
A court of ruby jesters,
join him from his wrist.

Both know it is the end,
that now their time has come.
One of them must go,
back where they both came from.

The earth can’t hold two brothers,
the lands have all bled dry,
People see them as they are,
they can no longer hide.

One is man,
one is beast
Their secret stands revealed.
Like two sides to the same coin,
they meet upon their field.

The starlight shone above them,
white mercury in ink.
The battle wages and is over,
in nothing but a blink.

A field stands bare and empty,
grass waving in the night.
Blood it is that wets the ground,
the next day gone from sight.

Darkness come,
and darkness go,
and nothing of either is seen.
Mysteries and myth emerge,
to fill that empty scene.

One is bred of wolf and man,
the other Satan’s son.
Blood drinker,
flesh eater,
then that day too is gone.

Darkness come,
and darkness go,
and mankind makes it’s treaties,
ground once red,
finds it’s bed,
beneath the new built cities.

One becomes like nothing,
dark spirit in the air.
The wolf is just a monster,
sharp talons brought to bare.

Darkness come,
and darkness go,
Parents pass and children grow.
Cities fall and go to ruins,
no one cares they just build new ones.

Now one is ghost,
the other man,
who thinks he is a beast.
The bread is lain before them,
pretenders consume the feast.

Darkness come,
and darkness go,
and all truth is forgotten.
Lies are made,
the fruits we plant,
to fill the fields of rotten.

One’s a fairy tale for kiddies,
a frightful bed time wisdom,
of what it is that happens,
to children who don’t listen.

The other is romance forgotten,
a dark shape in the night.
He wants you as his lover,
to help him find the light.

Darkness come,
and darkness go,
and some day they’ll return.
And mankind won’t expect them,
of that we can be sure.
This is actually kind of a re-rendition of the ancient vampire legend. It was originally titled, "Legend of the father; Prophesies" to tell the tale of how vampires came to be, but I think i like this other title better. I began this as a kind of self fulfilling prophesy to be included in the text of my story, but so far that storyline is either abandoned, or I'm just not at the point where i need it. I like it, it's been lying around, gathering bytes for the past year. This is it in it's entirety at present.
